It has come to my attention that I have not posted this, so here goes. I am a widower. I am retired military (Army). I am a fairly serious person with a warped sense of humor. I have traveled the world a few times over and now am quite happy to just stay near home. I am not saying I do not like a vacation or two now and then to some exotic local, but I am no longer wanting to relocate there. Europe was my favorite place to live, tho. The media portrays them in a sort of stuffy sense. I found them to be very open (especially toward GI's). The older folks remember what we sacrificed to keep them free and will go out of their way to make you welcome. Holland, in and around Gelderland, was the most welcoming. Actually, everywhere I have been the people were most interested in the US and it's people. They have a bit of a problem understanding why we are willing to help all the people of the world and not ask anything in return. I know that this has gotten away from me, but these people have made me who I am. I am most greatfull. Now I am a farmer in the midwest. My world has shrunk considerably from my youth. I am very happy in it.
